Established in 2004, Salt Surf Life Saving Club is one of the newest surf clubs in Australia.
Salt SLSC is committed to making the stretch of beach from Salt Village to Casuarina one of the safest on the New Tweed Coast. Our community volunteers patrol the beach on weekends and public holidays from September through until May the following year, ensuring that our residents and thousands of visitors have a safe place to swim. Our patrol services are supplemented during NSW school holidays by the Australian Lifeguard Service, to ensure that Salt Beach is patrolled each day during the NSW school holidays.
Salt SLSC is considered a Family Club. We have a strong and vibrant presence that prides itself on building the fabric of the local community. Being a new club in a new area, we attract local families with a common theme of getting to know new people. Many of our members are getting involved in the surf movement for the first time in their lives, and we cater for all abilities and ages. Our patrol teams, surf educators and junior trainers are dedicated to working with all sections of the community for a common goal.
The Salt nipper program, which was introduced in 2006, has developed into a one of the most progressive programs on the coast. The Saturday afternoon timeslot is very popular with kids and parents, giving families back their Sundays. The junior lifesavers training environment sources coaching expertise from all over Australia as more people make Casuarina and Kingscliff their home. Our nipper numbers have rapidly expanded as word spreads about the friendly, supportive, family-focussed and low-pressure environment provided at Salt SLSC. We cater for all abilities and strive to build confidence and knowledge. The Saturday afternoon timeslot is extrememly popular.
The club is also committed to the local community and our family friendly environment is a great strength. The club regularly hosts various formal and informal social functions through the year for members, supporters and local residents. With a membership base spread right along the Tweed Coast and as far away as Brisbane, you will find Salt SLSC is a great place to be.
