As part of being a family club at Salt SLSC, we are fortunate enough to have some families that can make an entire patrol group on their own. This is true of the 4 members of the Blyth family. Between them they have Patrol Captain, IRB Driver, IRB Crew, Advanced Resuscitation, First Aid and Bronze Medallion.
During the last patrolling weekend of season 2014/15, there were 2 rescues performed in the space of an hour. Angus Blyth carried out both rescues on the board and they were textbook rescues (very Bondi Rescue). The swimmers were quickly identified, Angus got to them in no time and had them back to the beach in a flash. Other members of the patrol assisted with tubes and assessment of the swimmers on the beach.
This is great example of the training and support provided at Salt, which has enabled a former Salt nipper to conduct himself so well in the situation of performing his first rescues.
