Join the Salt Surf Life Saving Club

To join a surf club, Surf Life Saving Australia has created a webpage that will direct you to the signup process.  Depending on whether you (or whoever you are joining on behalf of) have been a member of a surf club before, the method will be slightly different.

New Members

User Guide - New members guide

  • Go to the Surf Life Saving Membership web page at
  • Click No to the first question, if you have not been a member of a surf club before
  • Entity to select is "Surf Life Saving Club"
  • Select State: "Surf Life Saving NSW"
  • Club/Organisation: Salt
  • Supply your personal details

       First Name

       Last Name

       Date of Birth


  • Enter the CAPTCHA code

  • click Continue

The screen will change to include the General Details screen.  The mandatory fields are Email Address 1, Home Address and Postal Address but the more other fields you can fill out the better.  There are some declaration boxes to tick at the end of the form, and some additional details to supply if the applicant is under 18

Once the form is complete, click on submit.

You also will have the option to repeat the join process on behalf of an additional person or create a Family Group.  This will allow some fields to be pre-filled with information from the previous application form.

The next step is to make a payment - we cannot process the membership unless the matching fee is paid.  Check the Membership Price List to see what fee you should be paying e.g.  Associate; Junior; or Active

Renewing/Transferring Members

Note: Last season there was a transition from the old "Lifesaving Online" accounts to the new "Members Portal".  You may have taken this opportunity to explore the "Family Groups" option.  See this extract from the SLSA August 2015 IT enhancements circular for further details on Family Groups implementation

  • Go to the Surf Life Saving Membership web page at -
  • Click Yes to go to the Members portal

From the members portal you can log in with your portal account details, or create a new account if required.  All membership renewals are now via the members portal which has replaced the old LifesavingOnline process. See the user guides to assist with the transition required for this season.

Make a Payment

The next step is to "Make a Payment" (We can't process your membership until it's paid for)

  • You can elect to use the credit card payment gateway or use the Direct Debit details to transfer money through your online banking
  • Payment Gateway
    • Entity to pay is "Salt"
    • Under "Transaction Type" select "Membership fee"
    • For "Payment Details", enter the members name
    • For "Amount", enter the required fee as listed in "Schedule of Fees" which will be a link.
  • You may pay for more than one member in this transaction.


You can elect to pay your membership fees during the signup process, but if you need to go there later, the gateway is located here -

Members 16 years of age or older
All members 16 years of age or older (no matter what membership category you are applying for) are required to complete in full and sign the Volunteers declaration and provide the original signed form and proof of identification to the Secretary/JAC when you next come down to the club
